Advisory Committee:

Nationally and Internationally recognized expert from the field of Urban health, Urban Planning, Sustainable development, institutional development. Will support and guide CUHD towards institutionalization process.

Governing Board:

Overall guidance to the CUHD, review performance of the unit and its leader

Director:

Overall responsibility to design, lead and quality control of the deliverables and products. Accountable to donor.

Professionals:

A right mixed of experienced and young professionals to lead Public health, PPP, Convergence, CB , BCC, Community Process, Research & knowledge management etc.


Advisors of CUHD

Mr. Amalendu Pal

Amalendu Pal, Board Chair of CUHD and ED of aipa-asia. 36 years of experience in institution building, resource mobilization , health policy system research, health financing, institutional governance, monitoring etc. Director, Post Graduate Institute of Hospital Administration (West Bengal University of Technology), Chief Controlling Officer of Haematology Research Institute, facilitated in establishing Indian Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur (now IIHMR University). Actively played role in promoting scientific research in health and public health program in India in collaboration with leading medical university of USA and UK. With international donor and national funded programs-USAID, DFID, British Council, KFW, The Ford Foundation, and MetLife Foundation, corporate- Tata Group, ONGC, Engineers India, SBI, LIC.

Experience in working in, India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal, Myanmar, PNG, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Kenya and Nigeria.

Tanner fellowship(2008) awardee of Harvard Business School, BU, USA for the program on “Governing for Non-Profit Excellence.” M.B.A (Finance) -1989 from University of Calcutta, General Management (1987), from IIM, Calcutta, M.A. in Social Welfare Administration; major in Social Policy, and Welfare Administration (1982) from TIS, Mumbai.


Dr. Yonette Thomas

Founding Board member and Executive Director of the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH) since 2017. Senior Director for International Health Research and the American Association of Geographire’s gender, equity, and diversity programs. Science Advisor for urban health to the New York Academy of Medicine. Founding board member and former vice president of the Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Science (IAPHS) and served on the Steering Committee of the National Hispanic Science Network on Drug Abuse. Chief of the Epidemiology Research Branch and Program Director for the Social Epidemiology Program at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health.

Holds Ph.D. in Medical Sociology and Demography, with post-graduate training in epidemiology. Member of editorial board of Journal of Urban Health , Associate Editor for Women and Girls, Journal Cities and Health and Associate Professor woc, dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, Howard University, USA.


Mr. George C Varughese

Mr. George C Varughese is a dynamic leader with 35 years of experience in building an institution and its partnerships; designing and managing pioneering initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges of environment and sustainable development; and influencing national and global policy. He has undertaken over 300 projects and assignments. Currently providing strategic advice to institutions and programmes with the expertise and experience gained. Holding master’s degrees in urban and Regional Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

Mr. George has received many awards and recognition; like Chairman’s Special Award from Development Alternatives; TARA Award for Excellence 1989 The highest award given by Development Alternatives to a staff member.
